Handwoven Silk Scarf [Saiun *09]
Materials: 80% Silk, 20% Wool
Size: Approx. 20cm x 140cm (excluding 8cm fringe)
This small scarf is meticulously handwoven using premium raw silk sourced from a Kyoto Nishijin silk thread wholesaler. The threads are dyed in various colors before being woven.
Three colors of silk thread and wool were woven into a plaid design on a large piece, which was then felted to approximately half its original size. As only the wool shrinks and the silk does not, it creates a distinct, puffy texture. The interplay of warp and weft thread colors results in a rich, layered hue.
With a fine density of 464 warp threads, and using single-twist silk threads that are semi-scoured and dyed, the scarf offers a smooth texture, distinct from the soft drape of fully scoured silk. Silk scarves are excellent for moisture absorption, release, and heat retention. Despite its small size, this scarf is wonderfully warm and cozy, perfect for wrapping snugly around your neck or draping over your shoulders. It's versatile for use from autumn through winter.
