《Jade Carving Artist》
Born in 1973 in Fangyuan Township, Changhua County.
Began studying jade carving in Taipei in 1988.
Studied Advertising Design in vocational high school in 1993, integrating design concepts into his work.
Established his own studio in 1994.
2000: Awarded an honorable mention in the Craft category at the 14th Sinying Arts Exhibition for his work "Waiting for the Right Moment." Participated in a jade and stone exhibition at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in August.
2001: Invited to the Hualien International Art Festival for live carving in the local creation area.
2002: Selected for the "Dream of Craftsmanship" award at the 10th Taiwan Craft Design Competition. Participated in a jade and stone exhibition at the Hsinchu County Cultural Affairs Bureau in January. Exhibited jade and stone carvings at the "Flowers and Trees Carnival" in Changhua County in May. Invited by Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Cultural Foundation and Hualien Cultural Affairs Bureau for the "Grand View of Stones" exhibition, touring department stores in northern, central, and southern Taiwan from October to December.
2003: Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute to exhibit works such as "Lotus Ecosystem Scenery" at the Presidential Office's "Taitung Local Craft Exhibition."
2004: Featured in the "Art and Culture Corridor - Hsieh Chung-jen Jade Stone Carving Exhibition" on National Education Radio from March to June. Selected for the "Dream of Craftsmanship" award at the 12th Taiwan Craft Design Competition. Held a solo exhibition at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall from October to January 2005.
2005: Invited by the National Taiwan Museum to exhibit his indigenous creation "Taiwanese Snacks - Braised Pork Rice." Participated in the "Thousand Faces of Sherlock Holmes Exhibition" in exchange with the National Museum of the Czech Republic from June to September. Established the "Yu Ning Shi" brand and opened counters in department stores. Exhibited at Pacific Sogo Department Store's "Craft Masters" exhibition in mid-December.
2007: Invited to participate in the "Craftsmanship Up Close - Applied Crafts for Daily Life" exhibition at the Executive Yuan Gallery, hosted by the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute.
2008: His work "Japanese-style Sushi" was selected for the "Taiwan Craft Competition" by the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute.
2012: Received an honorable mention in the Traditional Craftsmanship category at the "Taiwan Craft Competition" for his work "Half Thought," organized by the Ministry of Culture and the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute's R&D Center. Received an honorable mention in the Craftsmanship category at the 21st "Sinying Award" in Tainan City for his work "Lin Jing Mountain Scenery."
2013: Invited to exhibit in the Taiwanese Jade Carving Masters section at the "Cross-Strait Jade Carving Exchange Exhibition" at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.
2016: Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Center to exhibit at the Presidential Office Gallery alongside other Taiwanese craft masters in the "Gathering Around the Fire - Sustainable Craft Exhibition," showcasing three works: "Japanese-style Sushi," "Handmade Mochi," and "Moment of Leap."
2017: His work "Remnant Lotus Spring Scenery" received an honorable mention at the Taoyuan Arts Exhibition in Taoyuan City.
2018: Held his solo exhibition "Hsieh Chung-jen's 30 Years of Jade Carving - The Continuation of Culture" at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.
2019: Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Center to exhibit his work "Auspicious Dragon Presenting Riches" at the Presidential Office Gallery's "Feast · Happiness" exhibition from January to June.
2020: Participated in the "Joyful Heart, Brilliant Art - Taiwan Craft Development Association Boutique Exhibition," jointly held at the Hsinchu County Cultural Affairs Bureau (July 29 - August 16) and the Taipei Dangdai Contemporary Craft Design Branch of the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Center (October 6, 2020 - February 28, 2021).
2021: His work "Japanese-style Sushi" was exhibited at the "Creative Regeneration Green Crafts" exhibition hosted by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Center from October to November. His work "Handmade Mochi" was selected for the 2021 Taiwan Craft Competition and toured at the Taipei Dangdai Contemporary Craft Design Branch of the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Center, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Xinyi Store, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Tainan Ximen Store, and Taichung Store.
