- Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche, introduced Tantric Buddhism to Tibet in the 8th century. - He was born as an eight-year-old child appearing in a multi-color lotus blossom floating on an island in Lake Dhanakosha, according to legend. - Padmasambhava was adopted by King Indrabhuti of Sambalak (now Sambalpur, Odisha) and later invited to Tibet by King Trisong Detsen. - Together with other scholars and masters, he founded Tibetan Buddhism and is revered as the second Buddha by the Nyingma School. - Padmasambhava helped build the Samye Monastery, known as one of the finest Buddhist monasteries in Tibet. - He possessed miraculous powers, including the ability to control demons and evil spirits. - Throughout his life, Guru Rinpoche assumed different forms, each representing a stage in his journey towards enlightenment. - His contributions to establishing the Nyingma sect earned him the title of "Buddha of the Vajrayana." - Guru Rinpoche promoted rituals as a means to achieve moksha, or liberation from the cycle of death. - Mandarava and Yeshe Tsogyal were two of his disciples whom he later chose as spiritual consorts. - Padmasambhava preserved his teachings in the form of Terma, hidden treasures scattered throughout the Himalayas, including physical artifacts and spiritual wisdom encoded in natural elements.
