Patterns are created using a technique called 'bassen', where the dye is removed after indigo dyeing, and then colored using 'katasurizome' dyeing. The stamen parts are finished with embroidery.
The piece is mounted on a wooden panel as fabric art.
Each piece is dyed by hand, so you can enjoy a one-of-a-kind indigo-dyed artwork, as no two are exactly alike.
"Katasurizome"
This is a dyeing technique where a stencil is fixed onto the fabric, and dye is applied with a brush to permeate the material. It's a method used in Edo Sarasa and Kata Yuzen dyeing.
