Fired at 1260 degrees Celsius for 20 hours, the intense heat within the kiln causes the glazes to contract and flow, forming the intricate patterns and sense of movement reminiscent of peacock feathers. The challenge in its creation lies in the precise control of glaze thickness and the adjustment of the temperature curve. If the glaze is too thin or the temperature too low, the characteristic peacock feather patterns will not emerge. Conversely, if the glaze is too thick or the temperature too high, it may flow onto the base, causing the cup and base to be damaged together. Even ambient temperature can influence the final outcome. Numerous factors are at play, and despite years of dedicated study, achieving perfect predictability remains elusive. It is precisely this inherent variability that imbues each finished piece with its preciousness. The artist hopes this work inspires others to embrace hope when facing challenges, to persevere with unwavering effort, and to one day unfurl their own beautiful "feathers," illuminating their lives with brilliance.
