The artist carefully controls the thickness of each glaze layer, firing the piece at 1260°C. Over 20 hours of intense heat, the glazes contract and flow within the kiln, creating the distinctive patterns and fluid texture reminiscent of peacock feathers. The challenge in its firing lies in precisely managing the thickness of each glaze layer and adjusting the temperature curve. Glazes that are too thin or fired at insufficient temperatures will not yield the "peacock display" pattern. Conversely, glazes that are too thick or fired at excessively high temperatures can cause the glaze to run onto the base, fusing the cup and its saucer. Even ambient temperature fluctuations during firing can influence the final outcome. So many factors are at play, and even after years of dedicated practice, achieving perfect control over these variations remains elusive. It is precisely this complexity that imbues each finished piece with its precious value. The artist hopes this work inspires others to face challenges with unwavering hope and persistent effort, believing that one day, like a peacock, they too will unfurl their magnificent feathers and illuminate their lives with brilliance.
