【Chikuzen Tea Ware Takatori-yaki Takatori Hassen Kiln】
Takatori Hassen Kiln traces its origins to the Nagamitsu-ji Takama Kiln in Naoji in 1602. It later moved through the Uchigaiso Kiln, the Yamada Kiln in Yamada, and the Shirahata-yama Kiln in Iizuka. In 1669, the third-generation Hachinosuke relocated from Iizuka to this site. Since then, the kiln fire has never been extinguished, and it has primarily focused on producing tea ceremony utensils to this day. It is a historic kiln that has passed down the ceramic tradition within the family for 400 years.
While creating tea utensils relevant to the modern era, the kiln also incorporates the beauty of tea ware into tableware that enhances the dining experience, crafting pieces that are easy to use. It is a kiln that produces vessels showcasing the characteristic features of Takatori ware: “thin construction” and “the beauty of the glaze.”
