Accumulated natural ash from high-temperature firing has matured into a jade-like, gentle hue, reminiscent of dew drops on a crisp winter morning. The body is adorned with a mesmerizing interplay of leopard-spot ash and flame patterns, akin to an abstract art piece. Upon closer inspection, natural ash speckles grace the teapot's surface, appearing with just the right measure of restraint, adding a touch of emerald to the pristine, jade-like white. In essence, all these delicate touches are transformations born within the kiln. As the tea flows out, time itself seems to pause within the cup... Each piece is born from a unique concept and design, with hand-pinching or wheel-throwing techniques imbuing the work with life. Every piece is one of a kind. Our pottery is a collaboration between my husband and me, hence the signatures "Ping" or "Fan," and some pieces feature the "Xiao Ping Fan Pottery" studio mark. What is the wood firing process?** American clay, Japanese clay, and Miaoli clay are blended in various proportions. The creation process involves purely hand-pinching (no pottery wheel) to slowly form the shape. After basic shaping, the lines of the body are refined, then polished to complete the greenware. Once placed in the kiln, it undergoes a five-day, four-night continuous wood firing process using natural longan and acacia wood. The temperature reaches over 1200 degrees Celsius. During this time, natural ash deposits adhere to the work, forming a unique ash glaze. Simultaneously, flame patterns within the kiln weave through the pieces, creating beautiful orange-red or blue-purple fire marks. After five days and four nights of ash and flame interplay, a week of cooling is required before a piece achieves its beautiful form! What should our esteemed guests be aware of?** Product colors may vary slightly due to photographic lighting. As each piece is handmade, there will inevitably be traces of the crafting process. Minor variations may also occur during firing, such as slight imperfections in the rim or minor production scratches; these are normal phenomena and do not affect usability.
