1950s-60s French Vintage BCG Treraid Round Tip Dip Pen Set - 13 Nibs with Original Case

The Treraid series of round-tipped nibs, produced by the French company Blanzy, was a bestseller in its time. There were thirteen models in total, with round tips ranging in size from 0.25mm to 6mm. It is rare to find a complete collection of all 13 different sizes, plus one original plastic case from the factory (the old case may show some signs of age). While individual nibs or small sets of different sizes can occasionally be found on the second-hand market, it is exceptionally rare to find all 13 sizes together. In the past, similar sets were produced, often intended for in-store display. (Please note that the cardboard packaging for these sets features line samples drawn by each nib, illustrating their different thicknesses.) I was fortunate to acquire one such set, and I am sharing these photos for your enjoyment. This offering includes all thirteen different nib sizes. During the 1950s and 1960s, many students and artists in France favored these nibs for their smooth feel and generous ink capacity, making writing effortless. They glide smoothly when writing in English, Japanese, or Chinese. The nibs themselves are crafted from robust stainless steel, ensuring great durability. The original ink reservoirs are securely attached and can be easily reinserted if accidentally dislodged. The materials used are also thicker plated metals, making them resistant to rust. For nibs 3.5mm and larger, the ink flow is significantly increased. To accommodate this, the design of the upper ink reservoir was modified with fewer holes to enhance ink adhesion, and an additional reservoir was added to the back of the nib. These dual reservoirs increase ink capacity and improve writing fluidity. (Nibs 3.5mm and larger were priced higher than finer nibs like the 3mm.) (These are discontinued vintage items, not modern reproductions. Available while supplies last.) (The nibs are new old stock from that era, never used. However, they may bear minor signs of age. Each nib will be inspected before shipping; items with significant flaws will not be dispatched. Please refrain from purchasing if this is a concern.) Important Usage Notes: 1. Before use, there is no need for flame tempering or scrubbing with a toothbrush. If the nib comes into contact with hand oils, simply clean it with a mild neutral detergent (like hand soap). 2. Some nibs may have original horizontal or vertical scratch marks on the front. These were made by the factory before sale to ensure immediate usability and are not defects. 3. If ink adhesion or flow is poor due to oil contamination (from touching with hands or from waxed paper), gently wash with soap, dry thoroughly, and then use. 4. Clean and dry the nib promptly after use. Allow it to air dry completely before storing to prevent rust. 5. Minor rust on the pen body does not affect writing. Rust on the nib itself will impact its performance. 6. As these are vintage items over 50 years old, some signs of age are to be expected. Occasional rust may be present at the tail end of the nib, but not on the writing tip, and this will not affect writing quality.
