Marbling refers to the combination of different colored clays. Patterns are assembled into a long cylindrical shape using different colored clays, much like a sushi roll. When sliced open, several pieces with similar patterns are obtained and then shaped into a plate. Vessels made using the marbling technique have unique characteristics; the patterns appear on both the front and back. Due to the marbling process, the patterns undergo natural deformation during production from patting and flattening, resulting in a charmingly skewed and twisted appearance, as if the patterns themselves are alive!
Crafted with Japanese porcelain clay and fired at 1230 degrees Celsius.
