Born in Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1983, Kwood's background in craft design and his travels through Japan have deeply influenced his work. He felt how wooden art breathed warm, profound life into ancient alleyways. Objects that seem like fragments of time, bearing traces of history and outlines of the future, find a delicate balance between contrast and harmony, transforming into intricate pieces that connect the vision of a new generation with the simplicity of old eras. Agarwood, once ground into powder for its scent, is reverently placed in the most auspicious areas of Japanese homes, symbolizing vitality and light.
The agarwood is sourced directly from its origin, pure and unblemished, free from artificial enhancements like boiling glue, lacquering, or synthetic fragrances. It is presented in its most natural form. Through ancient scent-retrieval techniques, the artist meticulously peels away the outer layers of aged wood by hand, revealing the true soul of the agarwood. This process not only imbues it with eternal vitality but also allows tradition and modern craftsmanship to subtly intertwine at the fingertips, creating a feast for both the eyes and the senses. Its rich aroma, like a condensation of time, gently draws together memories of the past and aspirations for the future, allowing them to meet and resonate within the fragrance, extending endlessly, distantly, and profoundly.
