I create my works based on the traditional Japanese craft of Ikkanbari. Ikkanbari is a craft in which a basket product is covered entirely in white washi paper, then decorated with colored washi paper and cloth, and finally finished with a coat of persimmon tannin and water-based varnish.
Many of the pieces use recycled fabrics and paper, but my work uses more everyday materials.
The black washi paper base is topped with a pink cloth pattern. The inside is brown and the handle cover is colorful. A cloth drawstring bag is included to change the look and hide the contents.
