Marbled Porcelain Plate - Fragile, Handle with Care

Marbling" refers to the combination of different clays. Each color in the vessel is a different colored porcelain clay. These colored clays are kneaded into strips or rolled into sheets, then combined into a long cylindrical shape according to different patterns, resembling fish cakes or sushi rolls. After being cut vertically, several slices are pieced together, then patted and rolled flat before being shaped into a vessel. After semi-drying, the body is trimmed and bisque fired at 850°C. The bisque ware is sanded with sandpaper, coated with a thin transparent glaze, and then fired at a high temperature of 1230°C. Due to the marbling technique used, patterns appear on both sides of the vessel. Furthermore, as the patterns are stretched and shaped during the process of rolling flat and molding the clay, they become distorted, creating a twisted or flowing appearance. This unique effect of the marbling technique is lively and interesting. As a vessel, it adds a touch of playfulness to everyday life when displayed on the dining table with food.
