Shop Owner's Note:
I have always had a deep fondness for agarwood. It is precisely because of this fondness that I hesitate to buy or sell indiscriminately.
The agarwood market can be quite chaotic. As you delve deeper, you'll notice that some scents are overly uniform, excessively strong, and many are in fact blended fragrances, chemical scents, or artificially created. This is why I've maintained a cautious approach to agarwood.
Fortunately, I later connected with a supplier from the Indonesian production region. It was through genuine interaction that I began to understand what "natural agarwood scent" truly means. It's not an overpowering or sharp fragrance, but a subtle woody nuance that slowly unfolds, becoming more calming the longer you inhale.
The agarwood oil we offer now is extracted from wild Darakan agarwood raw materials in Indonesia. Our supplier operates their own distillation factory locally, handling everything from raw materials to extraction on-site. Due to its exceptionally limited yield, it is rarely circulated externally.
This aroma is difficult to describe. Initially, you'll perceive a hint of coolness, which then gradually transitions into a warm, rich, and subtly sweet woody note. It's not an ostentatious fragrance, but one that becomes more captivating the closer you are, and the quieter the surroundings. Many true agarwood aficionados eventually develop a particular fondness for the Darakan profile. It may not be the most striking at first encounter, but it's the scent that draws you back for repeated inhalation.
This batch of oil is unpretentious. My supplier sourced natural wild agarwood oil, established his own factory, and produced this oil himself. His oils are typically not available commercially because a Taiwanese biotechnology company has already purchased nearly all of his production, agreeing to buy whatever quantity he produces for use in biotech pharmaceuticals. However, my supplier did not wish to exclusively supply the biotechnology company, hence he has released a small portion to us. Most agarwood oils on the market today are not authentic; they are chemically synthesized. Even among genuine agarwood oils, many are derived from cultivated agarwood. What makes this batch exceptionally precious is that it is entirely made from wild Darakan agarwood. Honestly, bottles like these are becoming rarer with each one produced. Acquiring them is worthwhile, even for collecting as heirlooms, as oil can be preserved for an exceptionally long time. While 1ml may seem costly, just one drop added to massage oil creates a wonderfully fragrant and effective topical application. Although it lacks the flashy packaging of some commercial agarwood oils, ours is a pure, 100% agarwood oil. Our bottles are 1ml dark glass essential oil vials, complete with an inner stopper and a dropper.

*Indonesia's finest agarwood originates from Darakan: But why does Darakan agarwood consistently maintain its high market value? Let's explore the reasons below.
(I) Scarcity of Production. Darakan, also known as "Dala Gen," is geographically a small island located to the north-central coast of East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Agarwood is no longer produced there (whether it was produced in ancient times is unverified). What is referred to as Darakan agarwood today originates from the mountains in the vicinity of Darakan Port and the surrounding areas on the island adjacent to Darakan. The area of production is now quite limited. In essence, Darakan agarwood is a type of Kalimantan agarwood from Indonesia. However, due to significant differences in its quality and characteristics compared to agarwood from other parts of Kalimantan, and its excellent reputation in the agarwood market, Darakan agarwood has become its own distinct category. In China's agarwood market, Darakan agarwood is unequivocally considered a premium grade.
(II) Unparalleled Scent Profile. While Brunei agarwood is considered the king of layered complexity among the Sinchew series, its scent is not as rich as Darakan's. Comparing equal quantities of agarwood from different regions, the order of scent quality is generally: Darakan agarwood, Brunei, Manilao, followed by West Malaysia, Kalimantan, Papua, and Irian. Among all Sinchew series origins, Darakan agarwood's scent profile is slightly superior. This clearly indicates that Darakan agarwood possesses an exceptionally prominent and unique aroma in the current market. Upon first inhalation, a refreshing coolness permeates the nasal passages, followed by a rich, milky aroma, and concluding with a cool, mellow aftertaste (it can also be described as: initial fragrance of ginseng – transitioning to – rouge scent – transitioning to – sweet vanilla bean scent). Compared to other agarwood materials of similar scent profiles, its raw aroma is considered top-tier. Furthermore, within the Sinchew series, Darakan agarwood's fragrance is stable and long-lasting when in contact with body heat, with strong penetration. Waves of milky aroma gently emanate with every movement, creating a pleasant experience. Many individuals new to agarwood, after smelling numerous bracelets, find Darakan's scent to be the most appealing. Due to its current popularity, Darakan agarwood bracelets are also among the most expensive in the Sinchew series, second only to Brunei. Therefore, Darakan is undeniably a top-tier, flagship production area. Consequently, if you encounter someone possessing a Darakan agarwood piece, it signifies they possess excellent taste and a discerning eye for collection.
(III) Visually, some may say that while Darakan agarwood shares similarities with agarwood from Kalimantan and Brunei, making it prone to confusion, and many merchants habitually refer to agarwood from East Kalimantan as Darakan, the distinction can only be truly discerned through direct olfactory experience, as visually they are largely indistinguishable. However, I would like to point out that upon closer inspection, differences do exist. Firstly, in terms of density, Darakan agarwood is denser and harder than that produced in Brunei. Secondly, a simpler method involves examining the oil distribution. Kalimantan agarwood is characterized by clear and full oil lines, with relatively distinct oil veins, and typically appears dark brown. However, Darakan agarwood's oil content is more abundant than that from Northwest Kalimantan and Brunei, with oil appearing in patches and having a very dark color. Moreover, Darakan agarwood possesses a richer oil content than that from Northwest Kalimantan. High-quality raw Darakan agarwood exhibits peculiar "oily flower" patterns on its surface, forming very attractive textures, a feature unparalleled by many other production areas. Agarwood enthusiasts can use these characteristics for identification. If unable to differentiate, the scent can be used as a guide. It is also important for enthusiasts to note that Darakan agarwood bears a strong resemblance to "Hua Qi Nan" (Flower Aquilaria), but Hua Qi Nan is not agarwood. Enthusiasts can also use the aforementioned methods for differentiation.
