Vintage Singer 28k mechanical sewing machine

Vintage Singer 28k mechanical sewing machine (Serial No. L938969) with Victorian #08 decals and Simanco faceplate. This machine was manufactured in July 1901. Isaac Merritt Singer invented the world's first practical sewing machine in 1850 in the United States. Since then, the name Singer has been synonomous with sewing, and the fact that 100+ year old sewing machines are still used today, is testimony to their quality. The serial number of this machine is L938969, dating the year of production to the year 1901. This sewing machine does not moves smoothly when turned but given it's age, we recommend using this for decorative purposes only and not its originally intended purpose. The metal body of the machine shows signs of aging and usage, such as surface marks, wear on the decals and oxidation due to aging. As is usual for machines of this age, the rubber ring part of the bobbin winder is missing but this does not affect the functionality of the sewing aspect. The wooden base and case have some surface marks due to usage. All wooden parts have recently been waxed with linseed oil. The photographs are a part of the description.
