[About Laurel Burch Jewelry]
Laurel Burch (December 31, 1945-September 13, 2007) was an American artist, designer, and businesswoman.
Laurel Burch was born in San Fernando Valley, Southern California in 1945. She was married three times in her life. Her mother was a fashion designer and her keen artistic talent was inherited from her mother.
At the age of 14, she left Southern California and went to San Francisco alone. She is a self-taught painter and claims to be a "folk artist". She has many works and endless sources of inspiration.
She started painting and making jewelry in 1960. She was able to make jewelry when she found some metal in the garbage dump and began to beat it with an old pan... This was the beginning of her contact with metalworking.
She experienced an unsuccessful marriage when she was 20 years old. In order to survive, she and her two children had to find a way out-she began to sell her jewelry on the streets of the city.
Fortunately, Laurel Burch's works are extremely beautiful, and the hot sales of their works have also led to the Laurel Burch phenomenon.
Later, a businessman sent her works to China. She herself went to China in 1971 and discovered the technique of "enamel" (cloisonne) there. After that, she combined her paintings with enamel metalwork and started Make all kinds of earrings with original colors and tension.
Laurel Burch, a self-taught artist, said: “In our rapidly changing world, we must have something that reminds us of our soul.”
Laurel Burch jewelry combines different cultural elements, has a unique charm, and is very easy to identify.
Laurel Burch passed away due to complications of osteoporosis in 2007. The FB fan page is now managed by her daughter, and there are still many artwork creations to see from time to time.
