Kuzu, also known as Kudzu, is one of the Seven Autumn Flowers mentioned by Manyo poet Yamanoue no Okura. A perennial vine found in wastelands and roadsides, it produces pseudoracemes up to 20cm long in the leaf axils, blooming with numerous reddish-purple, papilionaceous flowers.
