It is said that wearing a fox mask originated from the belief that foxes, in ancient times, bestowed divine powers upon those they possessed, and wearing the mask was a way to receive that power. Additionally, because foxes are effective predators of mice, farmers revered them for controlling pest animals. Another theory suggests that the belief in foxes evolved from the worship of "Miketsukami" (god of food), which gradually transformed into fox worship. Foxes are particularly revered by farmers and those involved in food-related businesses (for prosperity). Torii Gate The practice of wearing a fox mask is said to stem from ancient beliefs that foxes bestowed divine powers upon those they possessed, and that wearing the mask was a means to obtain such abilities. Furthermore, as foxes are adept at preying on mice, farmers apparently revered them for their role in controlling pest animals. In this piece, the flame component is crafted from brass, the fox mask from SILVER925, and the torii gate from bronze. If worn for extended periods, or if you sweat during hot weather, the area where the flame component touches your ear may turn a shade of green. This is due to verdigris, a natural oxidation of brass, transferring color to your ear. While this can be washed off and poses no particular harm, those with sensitive skin to metals might consider refraining from purchase. The earring post is made of SILVER925. Instead of a smooth, polished 'mirror finish,' this piece has been crafted using a sandblasting technique, where glass beads are applied to the surface to create a distinctive, textured aesthetic. The fox mask and torii gate are identical in shape on both sides (front and back are unified). Made of silver925. Approximately W14mm (torii gate) × H40mm.
