The Saponaria genus of the Caryophyllaceae family, which blooms from early summer to early autumn, is known by its Japanese name "soaponsou," and was introduced to Japan during the Meiji period. The genus name is said to come from the Latin word sapo (soap). Also known as "soapwort" in English, the leaves produce a lather when soaked in water and rubbed; they have long been used as a natural soap in Europe. As it is a soap, the floral flower lover are pure, such as "wise actions," "purity," "memories of a friend," "a pure couple," and "kindness." We thought up some accessories using soapwort, a plant whose leaves can be used to make soap. I created a pale pink flower lover and two leaves using dip art, and attached three natural crystals resembling soap bubbles to give the impression of bubbles rising from the leaves. (The capochons resembling bubbles on the leaves are made of glass.)
