Icescape Series
In the Icescape series, the artist uses paper as a medium, and through tearing, stacking and reorganization, he constructs a texture structure similar to glaciers and geological cracks, unfolding an environmental writing centered on time and labor. As a natural derivative of fiber, paper's regeneration and fragility just reflect the situation of contemporary earth ecology. The stacked layers of paper skin are no longer just a carrier of painting, but a carrier that tells the story of the earth's trauma.
Ice Landscape Series|Gazing at the Poles and Writing the Texture of Earth’s Trauma
The "Icescape" series presents not only an abstract visual impression of the texture and topography of natural ice, but also an artistic record of changes in the Earth's polar environment. You use three-dimensional constructions of torn and stacked paper to make the work no longer just a visual plane presentation, but a tactile and material intervention, emphasizing images such as "traces", "breaks", and "accumulations" that are directly related to climate change and ice melting.
The winding lines in the picture are like traces left by melting ice, or like wounds on the earth, and the red cracks further strengthen the metaphor of "the earth is wounded". The slow and meticulous way of stacking paper pieces uses the time and energy spent on it, which precisely responds to the tension between the slowness of natural generation and the rapidity of human destruction.
This series does not present environmental issues in direct critical terms, but rather immerses the viewer in a calm, cold yet sad atmosphere through abstract and delicate texture construction, leading people to think about the imbalance in the relationship between humans and nature.
Summary | Narrative Flow from "Ice" to "Water"
The two series have an organic narrative connection - from the landforms of the ice layer (Ice Landscape) to the flowing water (Rinlin), the artist responds to the most pressing environmental issues of our time from his perspective: glacier melting, water resource changes, and ecological imbalance. The choice of "paper" as a construction language is not only a formal innovation, but also a practice of values.
Such creation is not only art, but also a slow-thinking protest and aesthetic practice, allowing viewers to "see" the wounds of the earth and the poetry of water, while also allowing us to "feel" the power of art as a response to the world.
