Flying above blocks of densely-squashed old tenement buildings was the old Cathay Pacific plane with its signature green/white logo. The booming loud noise rocked not just the buildings but also the ear-drums. This was a typical pre-1997 Kowloon City scene. Kai Tak International Airport started operations in 1925 and was once one of the world’s busiest international airports. At that time, Hong Kong people loved doing farewells at the airport and this created a massive human traffic in Kowloon City. In 1998, with the opening of Chek Lap Kok International Airport, Kai Tak Airport was closed down. There flies off another memory into history.
