From the Atlas Maior, one of the finest surviving 17th-century maps. Drawn by Joan Blaeu in the decade following C in the 1660s, it was later greatly expanded by Laurens van der Hem into a personal encyclopedia of world geography, continuing the vision established by Joan Blaeu style. This vast series of approximately 50 volumes, now in the Austrian National Library in Vienna, contains more than 2,400 maps, diagrams, sketches and aerial views of towns, buildings and ports, seascapes and landscapes, as well as a few important portraits. historical figures.
