Deep Blue Glaze, Plump Round Mug

This mug is crafted from white earthenware clay, known for its simple and textured feel, combined with a matte blue glaze reminiscent of the sky and sea. Fired at temperatures exceeding 1200°C, the glaze develops flowing patterns that, along with the rough clay surface, create a unique atmosphere. The deep color and earthy texture pair wonderfully with coffee or café au lait, offering a calming presence during your moments of respite. Furthermore, the blue hue complements colors like white, yellow, and red, making it suitable as a soup cup for dishes such as cream soup, pumpkin potage, or minestrone. All processes, from clay kneading and shaping to bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are done by hand in our studio, equipped with a small electric kiln and electric potter's wheel. While mass production is not possible, each piece has its own character, allowing you to appreciate its individual charm. The item you receive will be the same as pictured. The base will be sanded smooth before shipping. We continuously explore new combinations of glazes and clays, creating a diverse range of pottery in various colors and shapes. To prevent this, we treat all our tableware with a food-safe sealant before shipping, so there is no need for an initial soaking (me-boshi). This sealing process requires 2-3 days, hence our shipping timeframe of 5 days from order placement. Please notify us at the time of purchase if you do not wish for this sealant treatment. - Cutlery shown in product images is not included. - We strive to capture and edit product images to be as true to the actual product as possible. However, colors may appear differently depending on your monitor settings and lighting conditions. Please be aware of this beforehand. - As our items are also sold on other platforms, in the rare event of overlapping purchases, the item will be prioritized for the customer who completes the purchase process first.
