Photograph must be taken in natural daylight without flash (no electric), the emphasis on the eyes and nose, that is, the nostrils, pupils, irises should be clearly visible... And try to bend over and stand level with your pet, you may even have to lie down - so that the photo comes out at eye level with your pet. But you must understand that I do not paint with oil paints or watercolors. I paint with real alcohol and ink, which I blow up with a hair dryer - one-in-one will not work, but a beautiful work with an overall similarity to please you and your friends, of course it will.
