Recently, painter Ah Tu painted "Current Situation Map" 2022, which aroused many Hong Kong people's great feelings about China's "100-year change".
Hong Kong people are particularly impressed. When reading Chinese history in middle school and talking about the situation at the end of the Qing Dynasty, textbooks often print a well-known poster painting. Around 1890, Hong Kong inventor Hsieh Chun-tai used "Current Situation Map" to depict the chaotic situation on the verge of collapse in the Qing Dynasty. Many times, Chinese history books will use this to emphasize the situation that the foreign powers are eyeing China, but if you look closely, you will find that the depiction is more to highlight the corrupt and incompetent officials of the Qing Dynasty, the rich and the rich, and the lack of civil and military.
The current situation map has been reproduced several times in various countries around the world, and multiple versions have been derived. The Society is pleased to reproduce the 1898 edition from the National Archives in Washington. This version retains the Hong Kong characteristics of the current situation, which is more refined than the previous version, and more serious than the later comic and popular version, which is more suitable for viewing and collection.
This time, the front of the map is made of natural oak bark with fine laser engraving, and the reverse is pure black imitation leather. The construction is softer and can be carried around for display or computer mouse pads.
