【Stone Red Zhu Ni (Vermilion Clay)】
Stone Red Zhu Ni originates from Zhaozhuang Village in Dingshu Town. As is widely known, Zhaozhuang Village is rich in Stone Red, Stone Yellow, and Zhu Ni.
Stone Red Zhu Ni is formed when the surrounding Stone Red is mixed in during the excavation of Zhu Ni.
When the master craftsman meticulously selects the materials, this symbiotic raw ore is refined together, thus Stone Red Zhu Ni integrates the essence of both Stone Red and Zhu Ni.
This clay was mined and processed 20 years ago. Due to its complex selection process and the high difficulty in crafting teapots with it, few have used it.
Stone Red Zhu Ni is made using raw clay in its natural state, preserving the clay's natural texture and showcasing a mellow and unique aesthetic.
In terms of its clay properties, Stone Red Zhu Ni has a heavier sandy texture.
Therefore, the body of the teapot differs from ordinary Zhu Ni. While it may not have obvious shrinkage lines, it exhibits a distinct granular texture.
It is worth noting that both Stone Red Zhu Ni and Zhu Ni have a shrinkage rate of 28%, yet their finished appearances are distinctly different, highlighting its uniqueness.
In terms of tea brewing performance, unlike regular Zhu Ni which emphasizes retaining aroma,
Stone Red Zhu Ni excels at softening the water quality and possesses extremely high permeability,
resulting in a more delicate and rounded mouthfeel for the tea liquor, presenting a pure, natural taste.
【Vessel Design & Origin】
Inheriting the classic Shui Ping (horizontal) teapot characteristic of "holding water without spilling." Its wide belly and excellent heat retention make it an ideal tool for brewing Taiwanese High Mountain Oolong and Dong Ding Oolong tea.
Moon at Zenith
In Zen Buddhism and Neo-Confucianism of the Song Dynasty, "Moon at Zenith" is often used to describe the perfection of a life situation and the profound enlightenment of one's state of mind.
Examples include common verses in Song Dynasty and later poetry such as "The moon at zenith shines brighter" and "The night air is clear when the moon reaches its peak."
Ancient people believed that when dark clouds dissipate and the bright moon hangs high in the sky, it is the moment when the "true essence" of heaven and earth is revealed. Literati inscribed this phrase on teapots, meaning: when you hold this pot, sip tea, and gaze at the moon, if your state of mind can be as clear and bright as the moon at its zenith, you will attain true inner peace.
