Pleione
This is a ladylike pendant necklace featuring a top-quality faceted marquis cut Malachite, known for its beautiful natural stripes, and sweetly adorned with a white shell flower motif.
If you are not familiar with the name of this stone, it is a great loss from a color science perspective.
Malachite, also known as Peacock Stone because its striped pattern resembles a peacock's feather, possesses an astonishing beauty in its bluish-green stripes. It has attracted powerful figures since ancient times, and its color has been used as a valuable dye for thousands of years BCE. It is historically recognized as the most beautiful natural green in human history.
It is not just a green stone; it is because of Malachite that people were able to utilize the color green in their attire. Humanity's relationship with the color green began with Malachite.
Even today, after synthetic pigments have taken over, Malachite is still chosen and used in Japanese painting (Nihonga) and watercolors for its exquisite expression.
The famous *Irises Screen* by Ogata Korin, a masterpiece of Japanese painting, was painted with Malachite.
In this piece, we contrast the unique, plump, top-quality faceted Malachite stones, each with its own pattern, with the delicate, pure white silk color of the shell flower, resulting in an elegant finish.
If paired with soft winter knits, you have an instant, high-quality holiday season coordination.

■ About Malachite
Stone meanings: Reunion, Achievement of Love, Amulet, Protection from Evil, Recovery, Strong Affection
Malachite is a green monoclinic mineral, and the most common secondary copper mineral.
The name *Kujaku-seki* (Peacock Stone) is derived from the fact that the striped pattern of its microcrystalline aggregates resembles the pattern of a peacock's feather.
The etymology of Malachite comes from the Greek word for the leaves of the mallow plant (*malache*).
Peacock Stone was already used as a gem in Egypt around 2000 BCE, and Cleopatra is said to have used it as a pigment (eyeshadow). At that time, Egyptians combined it with Lapis Lazuli (blue) and Carnelian (red) in ornaments to represent specific symbols. Its vibrant green powder was also used as a pigment; *aoni* (bluish green) is its ancient Japanese name.
It is also revered as the guardian stone of Taurus. Famous anecdotes include Tsar Nicholas I of Russia commissioning a room in his palace to be lined with Malachite walls for his daughter, and the decoration of Saint Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg.
The color green is considered a symbol of abundance, regeneration, and life in various religions and cultures because humans were able to settle down and build civilization by beginning agriculture, but plant green decomposes over time and cannot become a green pigment.
Therefore, it was only by utilizing Malachite and Emerald in decoration that people were able to use the color green.
It is an important natural stone deeply connected to humanity both aesthetically and mineralogically, inseparable from mineral history, art history, and general history.
