When you come to Dadaocheng, you will always be greeted by the sweet aroma of strawberry daifuku, which attracts countless people to line up for it. The plants, bamboos and rocks allow visitors to Dadaocheng to not only enjoy a brief appetite, but also experience the food culture and history behind Dafu through hand-made experiences.
Looking back at the history of Strawberry Daifuku, from a tea snack in the Edo period, to the Dadaocheng dessert shop during the Japanese colonial period in Taiwan, to today's popular dessert on the streets, experience the craftsmanship of Japanese confectionery through handmade products and understand the changes in food culture
.
We use fresh fruits and carefully selected fillings to create three special zero-burden flavors:
・ Classic Strawberry Daifuku—— Classic red bean paste with strawberries, a balance of sweet and sour
・Rice Koji Amazake Daifuku—— White bean paste blended with rice koji amazake, healthy and sweet
・Golden Chestnut Daifuku——Taiwanese golden chestnuts mashed into a paste, healthy and refreshing
From selecting ingredients and mixing fillings to kneading and shaping them by hand, you can experience the delicate process of traditional handmade production. You can also try different flavors of Daifuku on site and pair them with Japanese sencha or black tea to experience the pure beauty of the experience.
Each student can take home 6 handmade daifuku (2 of each of the three flavors) and share the warmth of this hand-made dessert with friends and family.
