Burmese Dala Spell Beads 108 Beads Long Necklace | Prayer Beads Unearthed from a Pagoda
Excavated artifact.
The main body consists of 108 Dala spell beads unearthed from a collapsed pagoda in Mandalay.
Made of copper alloy, containing gold but in a low proportion, with cinnabar added during smelting.
Average diameter is 0.9–0.95 cm, these are Dala spell beads in the form of prayer beads.
The beads have been cleaned to remove oxidation, appearing bright and golden when photographed.
However, without regular polishing, they will re-oxidize over time.
Based on dating of artifacts found with the pagoda, the period is estimated to be the 18th–19th century.
Additionally, it is adorned with 3 Burmese 4-line Ghost Eye ancient beads,
and 4 century-old Sherpa beads serving as the guru bead and pendant.
Total length is 82 cm.
