★Whale★
According to legend, the Puyuma people can harvest millet abundantly because of the blessing of whales. In ancient times, a Puyuma man was strolling along the beach when a whale appeared and invited him to swim in the ocean. On the return trip, the whale gave him four or five grains of millet to take home to plant. The Puyuma immediately planted the millet into the mountain field after returning home, and soon sprouted and grew very well. To this day, in order to thank the whale for the gift of millet, the Puyuma people continue the habit of offering sacrifices to the whale.
