Wood-Fired Vase / Handmade by Xiao Ping Fan - Other - Pottery Khaki

Product Description

Flowers give life to vessels. Vessels provide a home for flowers. Adorned with simple dried flowers in our handmade ceramic vase, this piece brings a touch of serene beauty to your Japanese-inspired cabinet. Each subtle variation creates a unique tableau, infusing your living space with refined elegance. A perfect fusion of modern simplicity and Japanese aesthetic. Only these two designs remain, once they're gone, they're gone. Bring these last remnants of elegance into your daily tea ceremonies. Height: 12.5cm Width: 9cm At Xiao Ping Fan Ceramic Studio, we don't pursue mass production. Each creation is born from a unique concept, with the life breathed into it through the process of hand-shaping or wheel-throwing. Every piece is one of a kind. Our works are a collaboration between my husband and I, hence the signatures "Ping" or "Fan". Larger pieces are marked with the "Xiao Ping Fan Ceramic Studio" seal. Truly unique! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51567264550_68d52fdae8_b.jpg **1. What is the origin of your works?** We primarily use clay from the USA, Japan, and Miaoli, Taiwan, for our creations. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51565549867_2d00e9c5fb_b.jpg **2. What is the wood-firing process?** We blend American, Japanese, and Miaoli clay in varying proportions. The process involves purely hand-shaping (no potter's wheel) to slowly form the piece. After basic shaping, the form is refined, then polished to complete the greenware. Once in the kiln, it undergoes a five-day, four-night wood-firing process using natural longan and acacia wood. The temperature reaches over 1200 degrees Celsius. During this time, natural ash deposits adhere to the work, creating a special ash glaze. Simultaneously, the kiln's flames dance between the pieces, forming beautiful orange-red or blue-purple fire marks. After five days and four nights of ash and fire patterns, a week of cooling is required for each piece to achieve its beautiful form! Every piece is utterly unique! Due to the high temperatures of traditional wood firing, our ceramics possess far-infrared properties, making them exceptionally suitable for storing and aging tea! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51566330016_d46035182e_b.jpg **3. What should our esteemed customers be aware of?** Product colors may vary slightly due to photography lighting. As each piece is purely handmade, it will bear the natural marks of the crafting process. Slight variations may also occur during the firing process. Imperfect rims or minor production scratches are normal and do not affect usability. We appreciate your understanding!
