About Arita-yaki
Originating from Saga Prefecture, Arita-yaki is the birthplace of Japanese ceramics. It became popular in Europe in the 1650s, opening up international horizons for Japanese pottery. Its most distinctive features are its pure white, lightweight texture and a delicate yet hard quality akin to glass, offering an astonishing ceramic performance. Combined with ornate Japanese decorative designs, it was highly favored by European aristocracy at the time.
For over 400 years, Arita-yaki has embodied a unique Japanese aesthetic through tradition and innovation. Since 2016, it has embraced new endeavors, showcasing a beautiful fusion of modern and traditional craftsmanship.
