We strive to avoid these during the cutting process, or position them on less visible or non-stressed areas of the product. 2. Hand-Stitched Construction Our products are meticulously hand-stitched, eschewing machine sewing. Before stitching, special diamond chisels are used to create precise holes in the leather, ensuring a beautiful, wave-like stitch pattern that distinguishes our work from machine-made items. While this significantly extends production time, it is a crucial step where the artisan imbues the leather with soul and a warm, tactile quality. 3. Hand-Burnished Edges The final step before completion is the meticulous burnishing and sealing of the leather edges. To achieve a smooth, rounded, and natural finish, "Cutting Line" employs a unique edge-finishing technique. Sharp edges are first smoothed with sandpaper, followed by the application of an edge sealant for a refined appearance. This process is repeated 2-3 times, after which a layer of edge wax is applied. Finally, a burnishing tool is used to repeatedly polish the edges until they achieve a lustrous smoothness. 4. Hand-Dyed Leather For our hand-dyed products, "Cutting Line" utilizes Fiebing's leather alcohol dyes imported from the United States. To ensure a uniform and natural coloration, the leather is first dampened with water. The dye is then applied repeatedly with a sponge, gradually building from light to deep hues until the desired shade is achieved. Once dry, a color-setting agent is applied to enhance colorfastness. Finally, the surface is lightly wiped with clean water to remove any dust and further even out the color. As each piece is hand-dyed, subtle variations in color exist between products, making every item truly unique.
