Due to the proportion of the work, the work may be slightly cropped. **Rinpai｜Sakai Hoichi** From the end of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th century, new Rinpa style works became popular in the Edo area (today's Tokyo). The most notable artist during this period was Sakai Hōitsu. Hoichi was exposed to the elegant world of literature and art since he was a child, and fell in love with Ogata Korin's art. He even compiled the first collection of Korin's paintings, "One Hundred Pictures of Korin," which made a great contribution to the subsequent development of the Korin School. While inheriting Korin's elegant painting style, Sakai Hoichi's works actively incorporate realistic depictions related to nature and seasonal changes. The work "Summer and Autumn Sketches Screen" presents the flowers and plants of summer and autumn and the cool and winding water. Here, Baoyi not only realistically depicts the characteristics of vegetation and water flow, but also delicately depicts the natural feeling caused by seasonal changes. These are expressions that were not seen in previous Linpa paintings and are truly innovative. The painters who jointly revived the Sotatsu Korin School with Sakai Hoichi were his disciples, among whom Suzuki Kiitsu was famous for his novel and unique painting style. "Summer and Autumn Stream Picture Screen" shows the vivid vitality of nature: on the golden plane are rough-textured tree trunks, full branches and leaves suggesting vitality, scattered autumn leaves falling with the wind, and chilly water running fast...
