The cherry blossom kiln-change glaze exhibits various expressions depending on firing temperature and subtle differences in glaze thickness. This particular piece was fired at a higher temperature than usual, resulting in a more delicate and refined cherry blossom color. The wide mouth of this vessel makes it ideal for beverages that are traditionally lifted to the mouth with both hands, such as sencha, green tea, or hojicha. It can also be used for small portions of soup, or for dishes like grated yam or strained broth. It even serves as a charming vessel for pudding or jelly. All processes, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisquing, glazing, and final firing, are done entirely by hand in my home studio, which is equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel. Mass production is not possible, but each piece has its own unique character, offering the subtle beauty that comes from handcrafted work. I am continually exploring new combinations of various glazes and clays, creating a diverse range of pottery in both color and form. For this reason, we apply a waterproofing treatment with a food-safe sealant before shipping, so there is no need for you to perform a preliminary "me-zome" (water-stopping) treatment. This waterproofing process requires 2-3 days, which is why we set the shipping period from order to dispatch at 5 days. If you do not require the waterproofing treatment, please inform us at the time of purchase. - Due to the characteristics of the glaze colors, the piece may appear whiter under morning light or white fluorescent lamps, and exhibit more reddish or yellowish tones under evening light or warm-colored lighting. - Cutlery shown in product images is not included. - Product images are edited to be as close to the actual product as possible.
