50367-Stunning French Antique Sarreguemines Minton Pattern 216 Teapot with Hand-Painted Floral Decoration
This exceptionally rare and collectible antique teapot hails from the renowned French ceramic manufacturer Sarreguemines, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. It belongs to what French collectors affectionately call the “Minton series”, so named because its design is heavily inspired by the aesthetic of English Minton porcelain. The body is adorned with exquisite, finely detailed hand-painted floral motifs, designated by the pattern number 216.
The teapot features a gracefully rounded silhouette, decorated with oriental-style botanical imagery, reflecting 19th-century Europe’s romantic interpretation of Eastern art. The spout and handle are uniquely shaped and accented with delicate gilded highlights, adding a noble and luxurious touch. The lid’s sculpted loop finial harmonizes beautifully with the overall design.
The base bears the green shield mark used by Sarreguemines between 1875 and 1919, confirming its authenticity and age. While the Minton-inspired series is already quite rare, a No. 216 pattern teapot in such immaculate condition is nearly unheard of. It is astonishing to witness a piece of this age remain so pristine—a breathtakingly beautiful survivor of more than a century of history.
