Born in Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1983, Kwood's background in craft design led him to wander the streets of Japan, where he experienced the warm and profound vitality that wooden art injects into ancient alleyways. These objects, like fragments of time, carry the traces of history and the contours of the future, seeking a delicate balance between opposition and harmony. This manifests in his refined works, closely linking the vision of the new generation with the simplicity of the old era. Agarwood, once ground into powder for scent appreciation, was traditionally placed in the auspicious, sunlit areas of homes in Japan, symbolizing vitality and light.
Sourced directly from its origin, the agarwood is pure and flawless, untouched by artificial processes like boiling resin, drawing lines, or adding fragrances. It is presented in its most original form. Through ancient techniques of scent extraction, the outer layer of the deadwood is meticulously hand-peeled, revealing the true soul of the agarwood. This not only bestows upon it eternal vitality but also allows traditional and modern craftsmanship to intertwine subtly in the hands, transforming it into a feast for both sight and smell. Its rich aroma, like the condensation of time, gently connects past memories with future aspirations, allowing them to meet and resonate within the fragrance, unfolding continuously, far-reaching, and profound.
