Handpainted Delft Blue ashtray with typical Dutch floral décor made by the famous Delftware manufacturer De Porceleyne Fles. Founded in 1635, De Porceleyne Fles (The Porcelain Jar) is the Netherland's most famous delft factory. Of the dozens of original 17th century Dutch pottery makers, only De Porceleyne Fles remains in operation.
The code "CX" at the bottom of this piece, dates its production to 1978. The letters "MTH" are the initials of the painter M. Theuns who painted for the company from 1976 to 1990.
