At first they used different tables and their experience, You can see same tables at some paper boxes from modern 35mm amateur film. Then occurred light meters based at grayscale which compared with the brightness of the object. ITEM'S CONDITION: EXCELLENT Cosmetically the device is in fine condition, it was made in 1950-1960s when genuine light meters were rare and expensive at USSR. Previous owner added special table to understand the difference between ASA, DIN and Soviet GOST film sensitivity units (film speeds). All functions are available. TECHNICAL FEATURES * Based at light metering via special grayscale, really it is just simple guide. * Apertures from 2 up to 22. * Shutter speeds from 1/1000 sec up to 32 sec. * Film speeds from about 11 up to 180 Soviet GOST units, same with ASA. * Film speed scale is absent, but film speed is approximately like shutter speed at external ring of rotating disc. Black zone is for 45 ASA film, and You can easy account film speed for other zones of this disc. * Tree rings of rotating disc are: External - for outdoor at sunny weather Middle - for outdoor at cloudiness weather Internal - for rooms. * Dimensions 38x19x60 mm. * Power source is not required! * No any pointer devices inside, no any problems after shocks (except extreme strong), all indication is just at grayscale with aperture numbers. * How to use: Just open white cover and direct opposite part of light meter to object. See the maximum aperture meaning that You can see at dark end of the scale under the white cover. Rotate the disc and install necessary film speed opposite the aperture which You red at the grayscale. Use any combination of shutter speed/aperture according with shooting condition and take pictures!
