Kavalan Tribe: The Kavalan people are primarily found in the Lanyang Plain, with a current population of approximately 1,500. Kavalan shamans are exclusively women, while men have an age-grade system. The Kavalan believe that only elders can wear entirely black attire; individuals who have advanced to the elder group within the age-grade system are entitled to wear black clothing from head to toe. Today, Kavalan traditional clothing commonly features black and white. The people of the Xin She community have not only revived the practice of weaving square jackets with black borders using banana fiber, but have also recreated traditional beaded skirts with hanging bells, predominantly in black, red, and blue.
