Ceramic Brooch: Lily of the Valley - Brooches - Pottery White

Product Description

Lily of the valley flowers are small with many gaps between them, which presented one of the more challenging aspects to recreate in ceramic. While considering a shape that would be less prone to breakage, I aimed to maintain a pleasingly rounded and endearing impression, and I believe I managed to achieve a natural balance. A brooch featuring lily of the valley, perfect for early summer, that embodies both a simple, delicate charm and the elegance of curving lines. Size: Approx. 40mm (height) x 35mm (width) Material: Ceramic *Photos are of a sample. *Materials may be changed for future productions. .............................................. About the Production Process: Starting with a sketch, I shape the clay, allowing it to dry slightly before repeating the process of refining the form. I create enough pieces to fill the kiln evenly, a process that takes about a month. Bisque firing takes 7 hours. After removing, I wipe them with water, then individually apply glaze before the main firing, which lasts 12 hours. For some pieces, I apply a gold glaze and place them back in the kiln for another 7 hours. As they require a slow cooling period, I wait about two days after each firing before removing them from the kiln. Finally, I select the best pieces by hand and attach the pin. Currently, the success rate is around 70%. Although this process requires considerable time and effort, the result is a decorative brooch that combines the tactile warmth of clay, the durability of ceramic, the luster of glaze, and the sparkle of gold accents. I believe this piece is made to be cherished for a long time, remaining a constant companion.
