This work was inspired by the quiet dignity of antique violins that can no longer serve music as they once did. These instruments have absorbed years of human touch, discipline, and emotion — the energy of the musicians who once gave them a voice. I wanted this history not to end in silence.
The installation is created from two old violins, a bow, and two violin chin rests. The bow and chin rests form a fragile silhouette resembling a thin branch with two leaves — a sprout. It becomes a symbol of renewal and transformation.
The object is enclosed in a frame made from a lost antique icon, covered with original gold leaf. Once sacred and forgotten, the frame now holds a new form of reverence, uniting spiritual memory with the memory of sound.
I chose this medium because it carries time within it. Antique wood, traces of life, and warm LED light create a second, very long life.
I hope viewers will feel calm and continuity: that nothing truly meaningful is ever lost, only transformed.
