This is an upcycled SDGs jewelry piece featuring kintsugi, made from ceramics by Fukuikama, a potter based in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, known for Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki.
Cracked or chipped ceramics that would otherwise be discarded are given new life, embellished with kintsugi, and transformed into accessories.
The concept behind these pieces is to reconnect people with nature and Japan's enduring traditions, creating modern accessories that bridge the past and future, embodying new possibilities.
Elegant pottery fragments, hand-painted with delicate designs, are paired with freshwater pearls.
Kintsugi is applied to the sides of the pottery fragments, allowing the gold to shimmer from every angle, adding a refined touch.
These pieces are perfect as a statement accent for both casual and elegant outfits.
Length: 10 x 15mm
Hardware: Screw-back earrings (hardware cannot be changed)
Weight: Despite being made of pottery fragments, they are light and comfortable to wear.
Each accessory is a one-of-a-kind creation, making it an ideal gift.
Consider this for a thoughtful present for someone special.
*As these are finished, one-of-a-kind pieces, we cannot accommodate hardware changes or remakes.
*While we will send the item pictured, if it has already sold on another platform, it may be made to order. In such cases, please be aware that there may be individual differences in the color, pattern, and size of the pottery fragments and natural stones compared to the photos.
*"Kintsugi" is a traditional Japanese repair technique that mends broken or chipped pottery using lacquer and gold powder. This work uses a modern, simplified kintsugi method. Unlike traditional urushi lacquer, which is made from the sap of the lacquer tree, this technique uses adhesive for the primary bonding.
The kintsugi areas are created using lacquer (a manufacturer-produced paint, not raw urushi) and gold powder (brass powder, pearl powder), with UV resin also used for reinforcement.
