A consistent winner in the Ethiopia COE competitions – 74110 Ethiopia Gediyo Yirgacheffe Banko Gotiti G1 The major coffee-producing regions in Ethiopia are: Lekempti, Limu, Illubabor, Djimma, Teppi/Bebeka, and three regions particularly renowned and loved in Taiwan – Yirgacheffe, Harrar, and Sidamo. Most Ethiopian coffee varieties are Heirloom, meaning they are superior breeds passed down from ancient ancestors. In 1971, a widespread Coffee Berry Disease (CBD) outbreak occurred, affecting coffee from its early fruit stage. Pests infiltrated the fruit, damaging the seeds. This resulted in losses exceeding 70%, and in some cases, up to 80%. Consequently, the Jimma Agricultural Research Center (JARC) initiated a crucial research program. The results were named using the year and a serial number, leading to the origin of the 74 and 75 series varieties. 74 and 75 represent 1974 and 1975, respectively, with the last three digits being the serial number. The project began in [year unspecified] with the goal of identifying varieties effective against Coffee Berry Disease (CBD). Extensive field and laboratory tests were conducted on a total of 639 tree species collected from 19 locations in southwestern Ethiopia. After repeated experiments, 13 varieties were adopted, all proving effective against berry disease and exhibiting distinct citrus flavors and delicate floral aromas. These varieties include 74110, which has frequently appeared in past Ethiopian COE competitions, becoming a hallmark of consistency, and is renowned for its floral and citrus aromas. The Banko Gotiti processing station is located in Gediyo town, the most southeastern prime area of Yirgacheffe. In earlier years, this region was exported under the name Woreka. However, in recent years, there has been an increasing emphasis on single-source traceability. In 2012, it separated from the large Woreka cooperative, enhancing the authenticity of traceability. The vast majority of coffee trees are planted on slopes of 2000 meters, resulting in excellent green bean appearance, consistency, freshness, aroma, and flavor. The rich aroma is further enhanced by the slow drying process due to the average temperature of 15-25°C at high altitudes, taking longer than in other regions and thus leading to more stable green bean quality. ※Food products are not eligible for the seven-day appreciation period※ ••• https://cdn.cybassets.com/s/files/15942/ckeditor/pictures/content_e28e3930-b71e-4297-9881-861b94c44118.jpg https://cdn.cybassets.com/s/files/15942/ckeditor/pictures/content_2c52ed3b-9d59-436a-acdb-7f87bd5ea5d8.jpg https://cdn.cybassets.com/s/files/15942/ckeditor/pictures/content_d97cf90d-cfd5-4792-aca1-265c7728eed6.JPG https://cdn.cybassets.com/s/files/15942/ckeditor/pictures/content_0eb6c5a6-0953-4e03-8676-4ae1b7f4840b.JPG https://cdn.cybassets.com/s/files/15942/ckeditor/pictures/content_9fc32dd6-cf5c-43ae-98de-3aac301c04e8.JPG https://cdn.cybassets.com/s/files/15942/ckeditor/pictures/content_1b94d7b0-e1cc-401f-90b7-c77400f7b6af.JPG
