Among them is a variety that displays both green and red; the green forms the outer layer, while the red lies at the core, much like a watermelon, with its green rind and red flesh. This is why it's called watermelon tourmaline. Watermelon tourmaline features an inner red and outer blue-green characteristic within a single crystal, closely resembling a watermelon's appearance, hence its name.
