These are SDGs jewelry pieces featuring kintsugi, upcycled from pottery by Shokeian, a ceramic artist based in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Broken or chipped pottery that is no longer in use is upcycled and repaired with kintsugi to create new accessories.
The concept behind these pieces is to bring the beauty of nature and Japan's enduring traditions closer to you, transforming them into modern accessories that connect to the future and unlock new possibilities.
White and gray pottery fragments are joined with kintsugi and adorned with freshwater pearls.
Kintsugi is applied to the sides of the pottery fragments, allowing the gold to catch the light and add a touch of elegance even when viewed from the side.
These pieces are perfect as a stylish accent for both casual and elegant outfits.
Length: Pottery fragment: 15 x 9mm
Metal fittings: Surgical stainless steel earrings (metal fittings cannot be changed)
Weight: Despite being pottery fragments, they are lightweight and comfortable to wear.
As each piece is a one-of-a-kind creation, they make ideal gifts. Please consider them for a special present for your loved ones.
*As these are finished, one-of-a-kind items, we cannot accept requests for changes to the metal fittings or for re-creation.
*We will send the item shown in the photo. However, if it has already been sold on another site, it may be made to order. In such cases, please note that there may be individual differences in the color, pattern, and size of the pottery fragments and natural stones compared to the photo.
*"Kintsugi" is a unique Japanese traditional repair technique that mends broken or chipped pottery and porcelain using lacquer and gold powder. This work uses a modern, simplified kintsugi technique. Unlike traditional kintsugi which uses natural lacquer derived from the sap of the lacquer tree, this method uses adhesive for the primary bonding.
The kintsugi parts are made using lacquer (a manufacturer-produced paint, not raw lacquer) and gold powder (brass powder, pearl powder), with UV resin also used for reinforcement.
