Rabbit Photography Book - The Gentle Solitude

Foreword The book, "The Gentle Solitude," features works created during my trip to Okunoshima (commonly known as "Rabbit Island") in Japan in late July of this year (2014). It is said that over seven hundred rabbits inhabit the island, and the sight of them swarming like carp as they are fed is a scene that rabbit lovers could only dream of... Thanks to my family, I had the privilege of visiting this enchanting place. Although the island's past is not glorious, having once been a site for the production of poison gas, it has now become a sweet home for friendly and adorable rabbits, fostering a delicate yet vibrant life force. While the rabbits appear to live in groups, their faces similar and their camouflage allowing them to blend into every corner of the island, they each exist and move as unique individuals. What struck me most was the contrast to my prior perception of rabbits as gentle and elegant creatures; on this island, they revealed an inherent wildness and a free-spirited aura. Isn't this much like us humans? Possessing conflicting traits and diverse appearances, experiencing connections, encounters, partings... yet throughout our lives, we must confront the challenge of "solitude." Only by embracing a carefree attitude can we perform our own beautiful dance. The true essence of this experience is something only we can savor and comprehend.
