[Two or three things about electroplating materials]
Metal or electroplated layers exposed to the air cannot avoid oxidation and discoloration. The only difference is the speed, which is determined by factors such as material grade, price, personal use/storage habits, etc.
This is not the case for metal wrapped in resin. This construction method has blocked the air. What needs to be discussed at that time will be the grade/quality of the resin. The small workshop uses Japanese resin, and then performs subsequent color matching and protective layer coating.
In addition to precious metals (gold/platinum/ Silver, etc.) or Stainless Steel, the common surface treatment methods of metal jewelry can be roughly divided into the following types. Their prices and color durability (high to low) are in order:
Gold Filled (GF) > K Gold Plated (KGP) > Alloy Plated, where the word "plated" refers to the electroplating method.
[What should I do to extend the service life of electroplated materials? 】
- Keep it dry and avoid contact with water; if it comes into contact with sweat, please clean it with a dry cloth after use.
- After wearing, gently wipe the metal part with a dry cloth/jewelry cleaning cloth, and put it in a zipper bag to isolate air/moisture.
- To reduce friction, please store jewelry in individual sealed bags or sealed boxes.
- Avoid contact of the electroplated layer with highly volatile substances such as styling spray, alcohol, and perfume.
- If you have the habit of wearing jewelry every day, try to rotate different items, or purchase other precious metals (pure gold/ Silver), stainless steel, etc. that are more durable.
