Napier is a brand founded in Massachusetts, USA, in 1875. Initially operating under the name Whitney & Rice, they specialized in handcrafted silver pocket watch chains. After World War I, the company shifted its focus to producing contemporary fashion jewelry. Throughout the 20th century, Napier's designs encompassed a variety of distinct styles. From the Egyptian-inspired pieces of the 1920s-30s to the modern silhouettes influenced by Art Deco, their creations were highly sought after. This luxurious piece, a harmonious blend of gold and deep matte black, reflects the European fascination with Egyptianism and Japonism of the era. This led to the widespread use of gold combined with solid colors like red, blue, green, and black. Today, the black and gold color combination remains a classic palette for many luxury brands.
