About the Leather: Vegetable-tanned cowhide leather is a material that evolves beautifully over time. Vegetable tanning is the oldest tanning method, using tanning agents derived from plant-based tannins. The process involves repeatedly soaking the hide in tanning solutions of varying concentrations over one to two months. Vegetable-tanned leather is free from harmful chemicals like heavy metals, making it safe for direct skin contact, and it retains the natural texture of the leather.
