Crisp Raspberry Cotton Organza Dress

Crisp Raspberry shimmers with a captivating hue under the sun. The yarn, steeped in a rich berry wine dye, slowly absorbs the colour, its vibrancy and warmth transferring to the fabric. Typically, when visiting fabric merchants, one encounters organza made entirely of polyester or pure silk. While appreciating the sheer lightness of organza for its summery aesthetic, the inherent fluffiness of pure silk organza felt less than ideal for design purposes. This was the initial inspiration for custom-ordering 100% cotton organza. Crafting cotton organza required altering the fabric's structure, particularly embracing the textured crinkle achieved after intentional twisting. It was woven on narrow looms in Japan, with the finishing process restoring a delicate, sheer quality. The resulting piece features a generous cut, intentionally left with raw edges, a detail I find enjoyable to trim each time. The design incorporates a ruffled trim at the waistline and a voluminous skirt, exuding a relaxed yet sophisticated charm, with a touch of playful softness.
